About
The Channon Craft Market
The Channon Craft Market Inc. was established on the North Coast of Australia,
at The Channon Village, Lismore as a “Make It, Bake It, Grow It”
Market in 1976. Originally held at The Channon Hall, the market moved
to Coronation Park when it quickly out grew that location.
The market is a non-profit community organisation and has a management
committee that oversees the running of the market. Made up of nine volunteers,
this committee is the backbone of the organisation.
There are over 250 stall sites for hire every month. There is a large
variety of goods for sale, including art, craft, bric a brac, children’s
amusements and activities, fresh produce and therapeutic goods and services.
We also have various charities and community groups either exhibiting
material or fundraising for various benefits. Every month local bands
and performers entertain the public on the oval. We also cater to a large
number of buskers who also contribute to the colourful atmosphere. Throughout
the market you can indulge in delightful food and beverages, in allocated
eating areas amongst the shade or at the Chai Tent.
The Channon Craft Market brings investment and employment to the village,
Lismore and surrounding area. Visitor numbers on average range between
7,000 and 10,000 people. The market employs on average 18 people per month,
either to prepare prior to the market or to work on the day.
The “Charity of The Day”, enables local community organisations
to utilise the kitchen facilities and veranda area for fundraising activities
while the market is operating. They also collect funds from the gates
from the general public as they enter the market grounds.
The Channon Craft Market endeavours to support local organisations /charities
with financial contributions towards equipment, stationary etc when available.
Our commitment to Coronation Park as a contributor continues throughout
the markets history.
So bring a friend, bring a relative and enjoy the day at your local market
but please leave your pets at home!
